Abiotic Problems - Quality "Roots"

One of the ways to avoid long-term root problems is to purchase plants with quality root systems. Avoid pot-bound, root encircling containerized plants. Make sure balled and burlapped trees have large enough soil balls, are solid, and the branch roots are at the soil surface.
