Sustainable Development (1996 Minnesota Conference on Sustainable Development)

CUES has also developed programs on sustainability in urban ecosystems. The 1996 Minnesota Conference on Sustainable Development was a joint symposium with the DNR (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources), OEA (Minnesota Office of Environmental Assistance), MN Environmental Quality Board, and Metropolitan Council and featured talks and workshops on building and managing sustainable urban communities. A community workshop on IPM was in collaboration with scientists from the USDA committee on IPM of woody landscape plants. In cooperation with the Bell Museum, quality displays on butterfly conservation, butterfly gardening, alternative landscapes, IPM, and composting were developed for use in educational programming.
